We’re looking for a passionate and driven sales manager to help grow Australia’s premier event for interior architecture, design and fit-out.

 

About Design Show Australia

As the annual destination for 10,000+ architects, interior designers, specifiers and property developers, Design Show Australia is the largest and most significant interiors and design exhibition in the country. Created through the amalgamation of DENFAIR and Interiors Australia, the event is hosted annually between Sydney’s International Convention Centre and Melbourne Exhibition & Convention Centre and showcases the world’s leading brands, manufacturers and suppliers of modern and contemporary design products, materials and furniture for all types of interior projects – from workplaces to luxury homes and high-rise apartments to hotels, restaurants, bars and beyond.


Purpose:

The Exhibition Sales Manager works collaboratively within the sales team to identify and qualify new leads, win back lapsed accounts and bring in revenue through selling exhibition stands, sponsorship opportunities and marketing packages.

The role:

  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Generate interest through social platforms
  • Drive business via cold calling, networking and social selling
  • Win back previous clients and lapsed accounts
  • Working with clients to create a bespoke package to fit their needs
  • Accurately record information and interactions within Salesforce CRM.
  • Travel interstate from time to time visiting clients and industry trade events
  • Be onsite during your event building relationships with clients and renewing business

 

You:

  • Experience in B2B selling environment
  • Solid understanding of sales strategies and selling process
  • Strong cold calling and written communication skills
  • Ability to research and “hunt” for new prospects using Linkedin, Google and social media
  • Fearless, not intimidated communicating with top executives
  • Know-how, drive, and passion for developing new business
  • Ability to work independently and take constructive feedback
  • Smart and a quick learner who is comfortable in a fast-paced, high growth, entrepreneurial environment

We’re looking for a hungry and driven salesperson to sell partnership opportunities for MKTG.LIVE – the blockbuster new exhibition for digital marketing, advertising and martech.

 

About MKTG.LIVE

Held annually in Sydney, MKTG.LIVE is the blockbuster free-to-attend conference and expo that brings together 5,000+ leaders and practitioners from the intersecting roles of technology, marketing and digital innovation to create the definitive event for modern marketing and customer experience. The event provides a platform for all kinds of marketing professionals – from all sectors – to connect, learn and explore the tools, technologies and services needed to survive and thrive in a rapidly changing world of digital media, marketing and advertising.


Purpose:

MKTG.LIVE will open it’s doors in March 2023 and between now and then, we have an entire exhibition floor to fill with global and local tech vendors and digital marketing agencies. To achieve this, we need a capable, self-motivated sales hunter to support our commercial director in bringing this event to life.   

This role is focused on new business acquisition so you’ll be responsible for identifying and bringing on new partners (exhibitors and sponsors) for the inaugural event and building upon its success in the following years.

The Opportunity

A new leadership position at National Media, the Group Sales Director will assume full ownership and responsibility for the sales function, strategy and achievement of sales targets for all of the company’s B2B events.

The GSD will be instrumental in building and managing high-performance sales teams for multiple industry sectors and growing the revenue across existing events, new launches, and acquisitions.

Reporting directly to and working with the CEO, you will develop a best-practice blueprint for success, with plenty of scope to make this department your own and have a direct impact of the future growth of the company. This is an exciting time in our business and a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious sales leader to really make their mark.


Key responsibilities:

  • Recruit, support, develop and nurture the sales talent for all events
  • Direct, manage and develop all aspects of the sales campaign lifecycle for each event –
  • from strategic sales planning to lead generation, pipeline management, churn analysis, on-site rebookings and customer retention.
  • Lead, manage and motivate the sales team, paying attention to sales performance, commission structures, setting of KPI’s and individual sales targets
  • Implement training and structure to foster a performance-based sales environment
  • Ensure sales reporting, targets, processes and strategies are aligned with the strategic objectives of the business
  • Guide and support the sales team in securing industry bellwethers, headline sponsors, long-term contracts and partnership agreements
  • Collaborate with marketing on lead gen campaigns, prospect engagement, data acquisition, database builds and cleaning
  • Work closely with the finance teams on exhibitor and sponsor debt management to offset risk.
  • Work closely with the admin and operations teams on the floorplan management to ensure maximised yield.

 

Who you will be:

A solutions-focused creative thinker who has the vision, personality, and persuasiveness to drive success from their team in any environment. An experienced leader who has the ability to manage and motivate an agile sales team and has a thorough understanding of sales strategies and the selling process – and is looking to take on the next exciting high-profile challenge.

  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Proven individual sales success to a high level
  • Experienced in setting and managing commercial sales strategies and setting targets for established events and launch events
  • Extensive people management with proven success at coaching and motivating a team to achieve and exceed ambitious revenue growth targets
  • Astute commercial and business acumen in understanding the impact of decisions on the portfolio and the wider business
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to develop and grow strong relationships at C-level
  • Ability to quickly understand new industries and markets and to apply thorough analysis and critical thinking to understand how to best serve them commercially and profitably
  • A genuine team player and collaborative in nature
  • Strong sense of personal accountability
  • Integrity, authenticity and honesty
  • Experience with using CRM (Salesforce)
