The Opportunity

We are looking for a self motivated and driven business development executive with a “hunter mentality” to support us in the continued growth of our design portfolio: Interiors Australia + Denfair, Hospitality Design Fair, and the Design & Architecture Show. 

These major events showcase the latest architectural, design and interior products for the built environment (residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, healthcare and education) and attract a discerning audience of trade professionals – from A&D practitioners and specifiers to property developers and project owners.

Our events are endorsed by professional bodies including the Australian Institute of Architects, the Design Institute of Australia, the Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute and the Building Designers Association of Australia.

This role is focused on new business acquisition and reactivating lapsed accounts so you’ll be responsible for actively identifying, qualifying, calling and closing new business and re-engaging past accounts to renew their involvement in future events.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify, qualify, prospect and close new business opportunities
  • Win back previous exhibitors and lapsed accounts
  • Manage and build relationships with industry suppliers
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Use Salesforce to track and manage account activity accurately and maintain an up-to-date database of prospects
  • Match client requirements with event packages – exhibit, sponsorship, digital, etc
  • Respond to inbound inquiries quickly and prioritise activities with customers at different stages in the sales process
  • Work collaboratively with other sales team members and other departments
  • Travel interstate from time to time visiting clients and attending other industry events
  • During your event, be onsite building relationships with clients and renewing business

To be successful in this role, you must have/be:

  • 3+ years of sales/BD experience, ideally in events, media, recuitment or consulting sales.
  • Proven record of hitting and exceeding sales targets 
  • A network builder who is relationship focused and loves building meaningful partnership
  • Know-how, drive, and passion for developing new business
  • Commercially astute and ability to close sales within a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS office/GSuite and CRM (preferably Salesforce)
  • Organised and detail-oriented with an understanding that the details matter
  • Have the ability to manage time and resources optimally
  • Smart and a quick learner who is comfortable in a fast-paced, high growth, entrepreneurial environment

The opportunity

As a result of an exciting new launch event, we are looking for a self motivated and driven business development executive with a “hunter mentality” to support us in the growth of a groundbreaking new exhibition and conference for the marketing and advertising technology sector.

This role is focused on new business acquisition so you’ll be responsible for identifying and bringing on new partners (exhibitors and sponsors) for the inaugural event and building upon its success in the following years.

If you have 3+ years of sales and business development experience and would like to be part of the event that’s shaping the future of marketing, we’d love to hear from you.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop an understanding of the Martech/Adtech market, its vendors and needs
  • Identify, qualify, prospect and close new business opportunities
  • Manage and build relationships with large and startup tech providers
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Use Salesforce to track and manage account activity accurately and maintain an up-to-date database of prospects
  • Match client requirements with event packages – exhibit, sponsorship, digital, etc
  • Respond to inbound inquiries quickly and prioritise activities with customers at different stages in the sales process
